If you’ve lived in London for a few years you may well have notice the giant upside down purple cow that pitched up every summer and plays host to a load of talented musicians, comedians and actors. We visited last week the check out the Vocal Orchestra.

But if you’re looking for a summer hang out, keep the E4 Udderbelly in mind. It has the ultimate beer garden vibe with a smoking bbq, cool beer and pimms on tap and even a giant connect 4. The grass is fake, but for me that’s a bonus no one likes grass stains.

Last weekend we went to check out the Vocal Orchestra at E4 Uddderbelly on the Southbank

This 7 piece orchestra use their voice boxes in ways that you wouldn’t think possible. They blend together using only their god given instruments to produce the most jaw dropping sounds that will have you searching for the hidden boom box.

There are no backing tracks, or instruments, and without so much as a lead in note the group launch into full renditions of popular songs that you’ll recognise within the first few beats.

Watch out for Claudia – in the yellow outfit – cause that girl can SING. And the base from Grace – blue dress – is just too incredible.

They beatboxed and harmonised their way through the decades and by the time they got to the nineties I was practically out of my seat and looking for the nearest rave.

Definite thumbs up from us.

Just in case you weren’t aware – there’s a little election coming up in London town that will see us decide who next takes the title of Mayor of London

Politics is an area that has struggled to grasp the hearts of Black British people over the years. However organisations such as Black Britain Decides and Operation Black Vote are working hard to change that

We all know it’s all about making an informed decision before giving away our precious ‘X’ in the ballot box. Tonight an event is being put on by Black Britain Decides to Black people in London reach an learned decision about who should get their vote.

The event will see the 4 front runners in the election speaking, answering questions and generally vying for your vote. Also in attendance will be a number of Black leaders including business leaders, faith leaders and campaigners.

The big four attending on the night are

• Boris Johnson (Conservative)
• Ken Livingstone (Labour)
• Brian Paddick (Liberal Democrat)
• Jenny Jones (Green Party)

This weekend the weather looks set to warm up (ever so slightly), making it the perfect time for your first visit to the WigWamBam.

It’s Pancake Day! But’s let’s be honest, after a hard days work who has really got the time to be beating up batter and trying (in vain) to master the art of flipping. We’ve rounded up the best places around town to get some pancakes and avoid the mess.

We’re not big fans of Valentines Day over here at the INN. No matter how loved up we may be at the time, over priced food, cheap flowers and pink over kill is not something that get us in the mood for romance. Give me the Lovers Rock DVD any-day!

Here in London we’ve become accustomed to pop up bars springing up across the capital and disappearing before you’ve had time to say ‘mine’s a gin a tonic.’ The latest movement however is the pop up bar that you have to find yourself. Confused? So are we.

Every weekend, the Fourth Wall set up shop in a new place around the capital. They then release a totally cryptic clue to their newest location and the rest is up to you. If you can work it out, congratulations. If not, better luck next week

The current clue is this odd connect the dots style map. The bar will be open on 23rd and 24th March from 17.00 til 01.00 – we think. If anyone can work it out, please share!

I’m sure you’ve all heard by now (and if you haven’t, where have you been?) Starbucks are giving away free lattes until noon today. Waiting For Godot has been described as the most significant English Language play of the 20th. Written by Irish born play-write Samuel Beckett in 1949 it tells the story of two homeless men on the streets, waiting in vain for someone called Godot to arrive.

As the plays two main characters wait for a man the don’t really know, they pass the time by sleeping, eating and conversing. Through this the play gently looks at and questions exactly what it means to be human.

This spring see the Talawa Theatre Company stage what is believed to be the first all black production of Godot.

We at the Inn will definitely be checking this one out and doing a full review next month
